Restraining luggage in rear of GT3
Discussion
A slightly random question re a first world problem, but someone must have had the same challenge, so putting this out there in case anyone has already figured out a solution.
Have got a GT3 coming in Q4. No cage, which leaves me with plenty of bag carrying space, and I can make a legitimate claim to the wife that the car is a practical purchase. In reality I’m pushing against an open door, as she previously noted that my 997 carried a lot more luggage via the back seats than she’d previously thought possible.
So, we can put a bunch of soft bags in the back of the GT3, but I’m worried about how to hold them. Previously we could use the rear seat belts in the 997 to do a degree of restraining. Not perfect but not bad, but in the GT3 I’m concerned that all will be fine until I have to do a sharp brake, followed by an avalanche of luggage into the front compartment.
Has anyone solved this issue? In an ideal world there are mounting points for a large purchasable net.
Thanks everyone.

OP, sadly I don’t have a current model 911although it’s very likely that behind certain pieces of removable interior trim in the back are hidden fixing points from a standard 911 - if my assumption is correct, it would be a case of removing the certain trim sections to hook an elasticated luggage net into that you’d tension over the top of your luggage.

Taking inspiration from the 356 luggage arrangement, I used two leather straps in large loops from the top most rings on the back firewall (the GT3 does not have the 356's lower ring). I only used it to secure folding chairs but this method could also be used for cases/soft bags.

I don't recall any rings in those places on my GT3 (non-ClubSport).FirstSeaLord said:
Thanks for all the replies.
Tried out buckets the other week. Alas - too upright for me, and not adjustable on that front.
Mr(?) Sport Turismo - glad that you haven't had any issues on the road so may just push the soft bags behind the seats as much as possible.
I had foldable buckets (and no cage) so access to the rear was fairly easy and the rear space was extremely useful for luggage on long trips.Tried out buckets the other week. Alas - too upright for me, and not adjustable on that front.

GT3s haven’t had rear mounting points since the 997.1 on? Different firewall from the 997.2 onwards, same reason you can’t fit the rear seats back in to comfort models.
Sorry but my 2018 991.2 GT3 did have chrome half rings at the back on the top shelf. Does yours not have these?I've carried bags in the back of several 911s including RS and GT2s, without any problems in all circumstances.
Other than rolling the car I'm not sure I could imagine a scenario where a bag could hit the front seat occupants given the layout, seat inclination and basic physics. They will be sitting very low and not on a rear parcel shelf like in some cars.
