991.2 Warranty and Service
Discussion
Quick run down.
My 2017 991.2 no longer has a Porsche warranty (I have 3rd party specialist cover) but it has full Porsche service history.
The car is approaching 60k and is due a major service at a quoted cost of £1400.
No issues with the cost (although I’m not sure how that stacks up globally), but I’m in two minds about keeping the FPSH and taking out an official warranty along with it or to go down the specialist route.
Here in the UAE, there are questionable quality controls at service centre's for all makes and models. I’ve used one of the specialists previously for another cars and have been happy, so not sure if that’s actually the best option.
Final point (which might be obvious), but I’ll ask it anyway. Does retaining a FPSH make a big impact to resale values? I’m not planning on departing with the car any time soon, but curious if others have made the change for a car this kind of age (2017)

It is tempting to feel that they are bullet proof especially with a full main dealer service history but my 991.2 developed a serious oil consumption problem (top to bottom in 50 miles) with less than 20k miles on the clock. I subsequently discovered that it was a drain valve issue in one of the turbos which was known as a potential issue to the dealer (i.e. not uncommon). It required the replacement of a turbo (expensive as it was just out of warranty) but at the rate is burning oil it could have been a lot worse. So they are not without risk however well they have been looked after.
