I’m sure this has been covered before but I’m unable to find the specific thread
I have a gen 2 C2S pdk, which I’ve had for a while, so I’ve decide to update it mildly while the roads are salty! My iPhone Bluetooths calls across perfectly but I can’t get music across. I’ve tried a Bluetooth receiver plugged into the usb under the armrest but the car doesn’t recognise it.
Is there a way to have iTunes/Spotify through the car system and if so what do I need?
Btw not too worried about the sat nav, I just use Waze on the phone
Thanks in advance

As far as I'm aware your stereo does not support bluetooth music streaming natively, so what you've found is expected behavior and not sign of a fault.
There are three decent solutions to this, avoiding FM transmitters which are generally crap.
1. Cheapest, buy a bluetooth the 3.5mm adapter, and plug it into your 12v power (cigarette lighter of USB plug) then run the 3.5mm aux cable to the car's aux port (assuming you have one).
2. Mid price, buy an aftermarket double din head unit, which will entirely replace the PCM hardware, and will give you car play etc.
3. My preferred, I don't know if it's available for 997.2, but it is for 991, but companies will solder into the PCM unit the updated PCM with carplay, which is accessed then by long holding a function button. This will keep the car looking OEM whilst giving modern functionality. Here is a link for 991 PCM, but there may well be options for 997.2

There is a Y cable available that plugs into the USB and the round multi pin socket under the armrest. The other end of it is an Apple 30 pin connector. https://www.design911.com/Multimedia-Connecting-Ca...
You then need a 30 pin to lightening adapter. This setup will give playback and control of iTunes on your phone through the PCM. I think the adapter needs to be an Apple one as the others don’t allow control only playback IIRC.
I used this method for a while but decided to update the PCM with the CarPlay kit from NM Automotive.

I've been using one of these in in 2011 997 GTS for a while and it works really well for streaming music from an iPhone

I was using one of these plugged into the Y-cable and it worked seamlessly alongside the PCM bluetooth - the PCM behaved as though my iPhone was plugged directly in so I could browse playlists, albums, etc:

Then I switched to the NM Automotive CarPlay / Android Auto box which works surprisingly well on the old PCM 3 screen (aside from swiping, but it's not a capacitive touch screen):

I preferred the OEM look and it preserves the old interface if you want to check your MPG / etc. I also tried the JoyeAuto one but found it not quite as good quality (screen flickering and a slightly fiddlier install), plus their support was nonexistent.
