Hey all,
New to Porsche here. Really want a Turbo S but waiting lists are too long and can’t justify the high premiums for a 992. Hence, I’ll likely go for a 991.2. I have 2 questions for those more experienced:
1) What does the cabriolet ride like? I’m not going to be tracking this and it will largely be a daily pottering around town etc… I like the idea of a mechanical roof. Is the ride stiffness and cabin noise markedly different from the coupe?
2) I’m thinking that if I like the 991, I’ll put my name down for a new 992 (I’ve been told 18 month waiting list). What happens if the facelift is announced? Can I delay my build slot to make sure I get the facelift version?
Many thanks!

I would call round OPC and try and get a cancelled order for list or order a new 992 for 18 months exactly how i want - arrival of gen 2 may be irrelevant imo as likely to be a hybrid. Having said that 991 tough to ignore at half the money if you can find a nice one. Ride is on firmer side on our 991 its a 205 mph cab after all.
If you haven’t driven one, find a 991.2 Turbo S Cab to drive. If possible, on a nice day with the roof down…..
Many will say that the Cab spoils all sorts of things and they are correct to an extent, but these cars are so stupidly capable that I’m not sure we will buy anything else when I sell up and retire!
They MAY be too much and too capable. They are that good! Both hard and soft top.
It will (and IMHO) come down to if you want a soft top. We did.
Drive both AND put your name down for a 992 if you want one. Ride the 991 in the meantime. In 12-18m, make the decision?
They are stupidly awesome (I may have said that before) but I’m bringing ours up for NYE to friends because ‘she’ hated their Ferrari and want something less ‘flashy’ but still fun. They tick SOOOO many boxes it should be illegal

The ride is very comfortable in standard setting and the roof is very well insulated. It's a great daily car. For comparison, what are you used to driving?New to Porsche here. Going to jump on this thread instead of starting a new one! I'm in a similar position. Looking at 991 S Cabs.
However, what has the price done over the last year? how much over what they were are they? I can't bear to pay 20k more than i'd have had to pay 2 years ago..... If it's as high as this then i may hang on and see if the market corrects slightly this year.

List prices are one thing but 18m or so ago, we picked our 991.2 Turbo S Cab up at below listed price. Admittedly it wasn’t the ‘perfect’ spec for us and I walked away twice. Second hand market and sales generally were on the floor though. However, what has the price done over the last year? how much over what they were are they? Looking at prices now, I could sell and walk away slightly up…. 18m in a TS Cab for free??? Wow!
Unfortunately I think this one is a keeper

Would I buy one now? Not sure although the S does seem to keep its value brilliantly even in more ‘normal’ conditions?
Not sure I would buy right now unless I had a 992 on order and thrashed out a great deal with a friendly OPC!
