I’m a fairly new 996 owner with a standard issue plate on my car at the moment. Now sometimes a personal plate, less digits etc can finish off a car well. I have one on my daily and it looks decent.

What are people’s thoughts on C2 or C4 plates? Are the in that same camp as R8, M3..are they in keeping or looked down upon. Interested to know!

We have a 964 Carrera 2 with a 'C2 ***' number plate.

Not been arrested yet by the Style Police...

Why not? I've had a "C4" plate for nearly 20 years and it's been on 6+ 911's and a couple of Cayennes

It’s a personal plate, so your personal choice.
Most are low cost, so just a bit of fun, disguise the age of the car and can look nicer than the usual 7-digit plates.

That’s not to say that all personal plates look good - some look very classy and tasteful (but usually expensive), but others are vulgar and naff, especially if they have been manipulated and mis-spaced.

I've had couple C4 CRA and R8 GOT both £250 direct from DVLA sold both for a fair bit more once I'd sold the cars.

Just keep the fonts and spacings legal and it's fine.

I've gone a step further and have got a F6*** plate....

Each to their own but I think private plates* detract from older cars / classics. I like to know what year they are.

  • Particularly crap private plates that are illegally spaced.

Happy to admit we had C4 *** on our Carrera 4. It’s now on our Turbo S Cab (still 4WD)

The other is a FFRR - V8 ***.

I obviously quite like them so I am biased but I do think they are a great half way house - subtle enough without being too ‘in your face’.

If you like them, go for it and don’t hesitate.

BUT whatever you do, don’t put C2 on a 4WD wink

You would unlock maximum beard points!
Imagine that at a meet - rock star!

Seems rare to see a Honda S2000 without S200/0 plate.
Also found a large percentage of 182 Trophy owners with matching T*** plate to the build number, impressive considering the UK volume.

As you say a nice finishing touch, for me the XXX in a C4 XXX plate would have to be my initials otherwise it is no

I had C4 OUP on a C4 Coupe and no it’s wasn’t spaced anything but legally.

Whether it looked like coupe or not I liked it and sold it with the car.

No problem with a C2 or C4 plate. I think it looks cool. I have V8 and V10 with my initials

Happy with my C2 plate with three letters….it’s normally understood by other 911 owners or car fans. Certainly less annoying than plates that attempt to spell Porsche.

Thanks all. I think I’ll prob go for one! I was looking at a TVR plate for my Chimaera, however after several years it wouldn’t feel like my car would out the original plate!

I assume getting the actual plate from my local pork dealer would be best
