Great vid. Thanks. I love the idea but I feel current prices are way out of kilt with running costs.
How d’you mean? I’d agree £35k for a clutch is a wounder, but in reality, how often? Plus I think the indie network is now beginning to get organised to compete with OPC Reading.I’ve had the great privilege to have ridden, on track, in two of these machines, one at Donington the other Silverstone GP. I don’t have words to describe how incredible they are. I have no argument with the status of these cars. Valuations I guess are very subjective, but you really can’t overstate the objective qualities of the machine.

A new rear silencer is circa £10k including vat fitted I’ve no idea where you are getting 75-80k euros! The only reason I’ve heard of them needing replacement is the cats spinning I had mine rewelded around 9 years ago for 10% of the replacement cost.
As Andrew has outlined - and he’s an owner - running cost in the main are not outrageous. Clutch life is 50k miles if you know what you are doing and it’s around a third of the £35k the video mentions.
There is also a credible independent now RPM Technik have one of the factory GT trained techs servicing and maintaining them.
People should stop spouting drivel about prices they know nothing about.

Maybe values will catch up with running costs ?! I thought with the exception of the clutch the cost of say an engine out service wasn’t ridiculous ? I think RPM now have an ex Reading tech working on CGT’s and 959’s. Desert Dragon said:
I’m going to add a CGT 100% when the market cools. The £77,400 inc VAT was for rear undertray not back box lol! For an undertray lads. It’s a lads car.
Even if the market cools I can't see CGT prices following suit. They have been overlooked and undervalued too long and now getting the recognition they deserve and future prices will reflect this IMOTaffy66 said:

Yup there were a lot more cars for sale 18 months ago….for prices to come off you need to see cars sitting unsold. Sure some dealers are taking massive margins and prices are being pushed up but there don’t appear to be a lot for sale.
I think we’re looking at least another year until supply of new cars takes the heat out of some second hand prices….but I don’t think that extends to cars like CGT’s. Think they’ve re-priced and that’s that.

They're not for everyone
Well that is very true I would say. As is your comment earlier one would need fairly deep pockets to buy one to use as intended but the latter is true of....well anything in that kind of power/capability range as well. There certainly is imo far too much hot air being spouted by people about the car. Curiously enough that has also seemingly increased in direct proportion to car prices over the years. However it is especially in today's world also a fairly unique driving experience, certainly amongst the Porsche range. Whether or not the cost/running costs of the car is too high is (or it should be) a seperate issue from the driving experience.
Just wish I'd listened to Loughran's in 2006 when I was buying a 996rs from them. They had a delivery mile CGT for £199k and an F40 for £175k. !!! He told me to find the extra cash and buy the CGT. Obviously I didn't heed his advice, thought it was a used car sales tactic and I knew better ....Oh dear..with hindsight!!
I finally ended up buying one (Fayence Yellow) and am utterly blown away by the thing...A proper wild screaming thrilling work of automotive art and in my humble opinion ,one of the ultimate cars ever built that well never see the like of again.

First one I saw was around that time. I was at a track day at Spa which started (typically) wet and dried only to the point where there was just one dry line and woe betide anyone who couldn't hold it.I finally ended up buying one (Fayence Yellow) and am utterly blown away by the thing...A proper wild screaming thrilling work of automotive art and in my humble opinion ,one of the ultimate cars ever built that well never see the like of again.
Back then they had a bit of a reputation. In retrospect we all know it was tyres. There was a chap there in a yellow CGT who did very few laps and (understandably) very carefully at that.
It didn't make an impression on me and the car seemed more a liability than asset...

I remember taking a few cgt to spa way back, mine was on the mich road tyres which were truly pants, rsr had a set of slicks delivered to try but on the same road set up, mine was scary at high speed, rsr was the same but at a even higher speed! as JC was good enough to let me try his car on slicks with a agreement if i bent it he drove mine home
8 laps later i returned it to him in one Peice thankfully, With no insurance cover. The wheels span in 4th at silverstone on a cold feb track day,and was nigh On impossible to drive quickly,i dont know what porsche and mich were thinking .I eventually moved on from mine because of the tyre issue,do i miss it?not sure.
