Driving to work today and in traffic I turned of the radio as I thought I heard a noise - no noise - quickly turned back on the radio and nothing. The display is lightly backlit but that is all. I removed fuse B2 and that is ok.. Any thoughts?

Original single CD unit in a 2000 996 turbo.

Does it have a removable face panel. Pull that off and make sure it's properly seated.

The CDR22 radio in my 996 did exactly the same. Never worked again, no idea what happened. Online forums suggest cleaning the contacts on the removeable head, but I replaced it with a bluetooth unit before trying.

Well I ignored it and left it in the garage. Woke up by the alarm last night and an almost flat battery. Lights on the dash not going out and the re spoiler deploying…. Have now disconnected the battery and put it on charge. I imagine that everything is linked and there is an electrical gremlin frown

Is there moisture under the drivers seat? Lift the carpets and check

Are you hardtop or cabriolet?

Unless your battery is fully up to voltage I wouldn't even begin trying to trace a fault (that may not even exist)...
