Picking up a slate grey manual base carrera coupe 3.6 997.1 at the weekend. It has already fitted by previous owner some after market twin stainless steel tailpipes. The Porsche specialist has offered to put back on original oval tailpipes he has in his stock.
I’m divided…..I like the look of the twins but do like the originality of the ovals.
Any opinions would be most welcome.

I had exactly the same situation as you - my 997.1 3.6 came with Dansk twin exhaust tips. It is personal preference in my view - i went for originality and hunted around for ages for the original ovals on ebay and took them to my local specialist - at which point I discovered the previous owner had welded the Dansk tips on 😢….

I have a 3.6 C2 as well and I fitted the "S" dual exhaust pipes to replace the standard oval ones.

But you do need an adapter, since the C2S has a bigger diameter exhaust than the C2.
I got mine from FVD @ €50 yikeshttps://www.fvd.net/ch-de/FVD111997ADP/adaptersatz...

I preferred the look with a twin exhaust tip, but my taste may change and I might switch back to the oval ones at a later point.

Fair play to FVD B for bothering to make the adaptors available, but £50 ... ???

I have considered going twin in the past but have grown to really like the look of the ovals.

You have excellent taste smile I've always thought the ovals more discrete and "Porsche".
I have to admit I've never really liked the Gen 2 997 PSE tips or indeed the Gen 1 997 PSE tips.

PSE tips are not the same as 3.8 C2S tips!
PSE tips are not symmetrical, whereas the 3.8 ones are.

I know, that’s why I specifically said I didn’t like the Gen 1 PSE tips smile

An after and before

Thanks all for the replies. It helped make the decision to stick with original.

Very good smile

I would add refreshing your engine mounts to your to do list as the pipes should sit more snugly in the bumper, not hang so much which is often a sign the engine mounts are past their best drooping a touch.

And I should add enjoy collecting your new car!
