Evening All,

Posted previously on the thought of 991.2 purchase and thinking turns to other options to consider before rushing in. Both on budget but also to simply enjoy.

A few 2010 manual 997 C4S around at the £52k mark or an additional £12k gets you a GTS at £65k.

Aside from where the money sits best where does the general experience and value sit best ?

Some of these C4S seem a little light on options, though some OPC are offering 2 year warranty which I guess is valuable..

Again thanks for your thoughts.

If you can stretch the budget the gts is a gem, much more than the sum of its parts

I had a 997.1 C4S manual, and then bought a 997 GTS PDK 4WD.

The GTS felt faster (was noticeably faster in everyday use) and harder, although not uncomfortable. Just more speed tuned. It was a more special car to be in with the GTS wheel and interior. The PCM improved significantly.

I went for PDK as I live in London, so could leave it in auto or manually change when on it. The PDK will be a bit slow vs later iterations. It was OK on upshifts, but could take a nano second longer than I liked on downshifts for some reason.

Both good cars. No bad choice.

If I was buying again I'd consider 2WD as 911's have enough traction in my view with the engine where it is.

I had manual 2wd gts and tried a manual gts 4wd. The 2wd GTS was a lot better drive imo. I would have the PDK GTS out of your choices.

I’d sooner invest in a set of winter tyres than buy a 4wd 911. Unless you’re dealing with really bad weather the right tyres would be my choice over 4wd.

Would you take a manual 997.2 C2S over a 997.2 GTS PDK?

Manual v pdk is the big question

I think you’ve got to weigh up what tickets your boxes. I love a manual gearbox in a 911 BUT a lot of people love the PDK gearbox and wouldn’t dream of having a manual car. The GTS engine with the Powerkit has a more rewarding top end than the C2S.

I don’t know what the PDK box in the 997.2 is like to be honest as I have a manual GTS. In later cars like my wife’s 718 Boxster the PDK seemed to be programmed to keep the car in the highest possible gear which I didn’t like…especially as her Boxster was the 4 pot which needed revs to hide the turbo.

I am literally about to do the same thing, part exing my 997.1 C4S manual with SSK and moving into a 2WD GTS PDK. I do worry that the PDK wont live up to the manual experience but the PDK box suits my lifestyle better and the mrs will often be driving it too...

For me the downside of the GTS is the centre lock wheels needing special tools to remove and being a more expensive run-out model are you going to worry about putting miles on it?

I’m after a manual 997.1 if you’re still looking at doing this…?

Rob - I'm in the process of sourcing a 991, so will be advertising my 997.1 C4S shortly - 58k, lapis blue, turbo alloys, PSE, extended leather etc.

I would go manual C4S over the pdk GTS. Manual is more fun as an occasional car, more involving to drive. I had a 997 turbo and it drove like a rear wheel drive car, if you wanted to get the rear out of line you could do that. Pushing on In the wet you knew it was 4wd because a 2wd car would have the traction control light on.....I use to track mine obviously wouldn't be doing this sort of thing on the road.
