Uptake and perception of Sport-Tex on the 992
Discussion
Just wondering how many people have opted for Sport-Tex on their 992?
I’m guessing very few as only 5 of the 69 992’s currently on Porsche Approved have it – Is it because people still fear Sport-Tex as “the basic cloth interior” and the incorrect (full leather being standard in the UK) perception by friends and future owners that they skipped paying the extra for the “full leather” option?
I ordered the Sport-Tex black leather interior with Crayon stitching + Crayon seat belts (Jet Black Met 992 C4S) because..
A: I love the contrast/extra detail this brings to an otherwise very black interior.
B: Although it’s technically “square” it does remind me of the classic “houndstooth”, which nicely compliments all the other subtle nods on the 992 to 911’s of the past.
C: Sport-Tex is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter + generally a more pleasant, grippier and appropriate material for the contact surfaces of a car seat than leather.
D: I believe Sport-Tex will be better wearing than Alcantara + not sag or go shiny like leather, so keep the car looking newer for longer.
Just wanted to put it out there and see what others think….
PS. I'm also curious on the uptake of the leather/alcantara option to upgrade the standard vinyl sun visors.

We have ordered it on our 992 as to the reasons mentioned, we have full leather on our GTS Macan and wanted a change. We have gone for Crayon paint and crayon stitching with matching seat belts.
A good mix as does look a bit different. Preview car had this combo, but we have added satin black wheels and black badges, etc.

Specced it on my 992 2S which I collect on Monday
Yes, salesman tried to persuade me not to, but I dont like leather much, and thought the Sportex+Crayon looked a bit like houndstooth. Which I like very very much as to me it looks a bit retro and different.
Also had a go in a 991-T - which had a yellow 'T' interior with Sportex - that was awesome too.

Looking forward to the pics, what colour is the exterior?

Congrat’s, not long now! - When it gets down to the last week before collecting a new car it’s like I’m 7 years old again waiting for Christmas Day. My 992 C4S is being built towards the end of Sept so still a little while to wait for me.

+ Interestingly I’ve just discovered that what I have been thinking of and calling classic Porsche “Houndstooth” for years, is not actually Houndstooth pattern at all, it’s actually called Pepita. Porsche Pepita is a square design like the Sport-Tex, but with the addition of diagonal white stripes in every other black square, which makes your brain think it’s looking at a Houndstooth pattern unless you look very closely/directly compare them.

I had Sport-tex on a 991 Carrera T, and really liked it. It looks great, and feels comfortable. Sadly, I don’t think it matters anymore what you do with interior.
On previous Porsches, I’ve had it all, up to and including leather air vents. Now the vents look like they’re from a Kia.
I would suggest doing anything you want to lift the interior without spending/wasting cash and investing in the options to get the most from the stonking performance.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see incremental improvements in the interior before the next facelift.
Blimey, I think I need to cheer up.......

Racing yellow.... had racing yellow seatbelts to lift the interior. Technically those were a frivolous waste of money.
4 sleeps (or lack of!!!!)
I think 911 interiors need some colour to lift them. Have a white centre console on my vanilla 7.2 GT3 to match the exterior. Yellow seatbelts in my Touring to match the yellow 12 o'clock marker and PCCBs. Makes all the difference IMHO4 sleeps (or lack of!!!!)

Slightly late to the party.
Looking at a black Targa with sport-tex square and crayon/chalk sticking as mention here.
What's everyones opinion a couple of years in? still happy with your choices?
Any photos of interior would be appreciated.

I think from a far they look great, and I am sure they are practical but up close they look really cheap like Ford Transit seat inserts....awful looking in my opinion.
