Hi, got an option for a build slot on the new turbo s. Wondering weather I should just wait and buy one used 6 months or so after launch to keep my options open, rather than commit to an early one now.... Is this sensible, or will still be a sill premium on used cars?

When are they bringing it out ? Impossible to tell on residuals I would say without knowing what the allocations/build slots were like. On 991 they were pretty limited hence the strong residuals.

The last one was in short supply so I imagine you will not lose a lot on it, at 6 months old I reckon you will be paying close to list.

My dealer initially took a deposit and the refunded it saying that they cant take deposits on a car that's not been announced and build slots wont be available until they are?

hmmm, that should be the official stance. maybe my dealer are speculating they will get at least a couple of build slots. Although they said they weren't accepting deposits when i inquired a few weeks back - only got an email just before the weekend saying i could now put a deposit down.

Did they countersign the order form?

I've got a 992S coming in May/June however after seeing some leaked pics of a finished 992TT planning on upgrading to that car.
Did your dealer give any indication of cost and expected delivery times.?

May I ask how much deposit and whether they indicated the price?

Thanks

Turbo and GT cars are normally £10k deposit and £5k on the more 'normal' 911's and Coxsters, Macan, Cayenne.

I would, if your're not keeping it for long. Tbh, just hoping to build a relationship with the hope I don't have to buy next gt with a premium. How have you found the whole process? Do you loose much money buying an early batch and selling back to the dealer after a few months, compared to just paying the premium on what you want ?

I bought quite a few new Porsches which i've only kept for 5 to 6 months and i've lost very little in comparison to having to pay substantial overs for GT cars.
Just be careful on what model you buy and pick a good colour combo..It goes without saying that you need to exercise considerable restraint on options..If my intention is to only keep a new Porsche for about six months or so then i never exceed 10% on top of basic list in options.
I'm getting a 992S in May but my original intention was a Jet Black 992TT..When i was a fourteen year old kid in 1980 i had a large poster on my bedroom wall of Porsches..My favourites at the time were a Black 911 Turbo and a Silver 928..
I love a lot of other Porsches apart from the GT products so like to try different versions, even if only for a few months.

that's my thanking. I've always wanted to try a Turbo, but having only just bought the 911.2 gt3, I don't think I want to trade it in for a turbo when it arrives, but rather keep it till the next gt3. That means taking the turbo for maybe for 3-6 months, keeping the gt3 for weekends, and then selling the turbo back with hopefully the only real cost being the interest on the finance. Well that's the hope, but could get stung and be left with an expensive few months ownership!
Still, it's a new dealership that's starting up with the opportunity to build a relationship. I take it to keep up the 'relationship' you have to sell back to opc for a lot less than you would get selling privately?

Thanks. When I rang about a month ago I was told no orders being taken yet but £5k deposit would hold me a place.....whatever that means.

The 991 TTS did really well on residuals compared to its reputation of being a nightmare.

Is there any chance that the 992 TTS might even command a premium for a period of time? Has this ever happened on a TT?

Cheers

- i think that's what they've done with me re the 5k. they only had one other deposit down.
- i am told the 991tts had a long waiting list and there were decent premiums. Hence I've been advised by said friend I might as well try it, and if don't like it, I shouldn't loose anything, and at the same time build a relationship.
