Hi All,

I am a newbie on here, but have had a fair few 911's of the older variety.

I have a Mk1 GT3 Clubsport that has KW Manthey suspension that was fitted in 2008 (only 8k miles ago). It is very hard as a road car but brilliant on flat A roads but not much use for anything else.

I wont track it and I am thinking to try to soften it up for road use. I would ideally like to go back to standard OEM given its condition would be good, but unless anyone has any OEM standard parts that is likely to be prohibitively expensive I think.

Does anyone have any experience of other options to give something like std in terms of ride.... or a set of OEM items that they want to part with! :-)

Cheers

Roger

Mine is OEM on factory settings and in my opinion rides very well on UK roads. Yes it's firm, but never crashes and seems to soak up imperfections rather well.

It is a decent system out of the box with Bilstein dampers and H&R coils.

I could possibly part with a pair of OEM rear coils. I decided to fit brand new following a damper rebuild a couple of years back, hence now having the originals as spares.

Actually I have some front springs but some of the powder coating has blown off.

Could just get the system you have rebuilt and softened up a little. Someone who knows what they're doing can rebuild the shim stack

I'm a Newbie to the site as well wink

If you decide to return suspension to OEM, or softer spec, I might be in the market for your KW/Manthey coilover system

I have a GT3 996.1 CS and could be interested in the KW’s for some suspension I have.

PM me if interested

Yep,

I have 996.1 GT3CS as well, with the Manthey KW3 CS Setup

However, as said, I'm in the market for spare parts/front struts/all 4 coilovers and this system is long out of production.

Needless to say, PM me if considering selling.

Most KW suspension for Porsche is adjustable. My variant 3 is not too harsh.

Andy tims, I concur

IIRC Manthey only offered the KW 3 way CS for the 996.1 GT3 as their bespoke Ring package. This is a harsh ride, but offer some options wrt spring strength and adjustment.

Roger, PMd you on this

I’m surprised that you find the KW set up harsh. The damping control is far better than the OEM units

Sorry, Manthey Ring package is harsh. KW 3 way CS not so much

Do the KW units use the same spring sizes (OD) as OEM bilsteins? If so maybe start with some standard springs F/R and go from there.
