2002 996 Climate Control Issues
Discussion
Hi all,
I’ve got the classic climate control problem on my 2002 996 - it will blow hot air and ice cold air on max and min respectively but the automatic control doesn’t work. It does seem to control fan speed, but not the temperature of the air.
I know this has been done to death, but I’ve got 2 specific questions:
1) Is there any way to identify whether the problem is one of the temperature sensors or the main control unit or test the components? Mine doesn’t seem to display the detailed list of sensor data when you hold down the buttons on the control unit.
2) Can anyone provide a link or give a description of where the interior temp sensor is? As the cheapest component, that seems like the place to start....
Any suggestions very welcome.

1. I think the detailed-info thing only worked on mark 1 996s.
2. 911uk.com a much better forum for this kind of question.

"Only thing you might want to try .. the dash far left has a round circle trim .. this pulls out and the interior temp sensor is behind it .. give it a good blow to remove any dust. "
