Hi all

Been waiting three weeks for delivery of a 997 GEN 2 window regulator. I am unable to use the drivers side door because of this and I expect better service from Porsche. Are other members having problems with parts deliveries from Porsche?

Many thanks

John

Parts are out of stock sometimes, that's just the way things go. 3 weeks isn't that long to be honest. What's the expected delivery date you've been given, if any?

Was promised it three weeks ago. I now get the standard response “it will be next week”. Not good enough Porsche.

3 weeks on a premium brand is poor. Try telling that to someone with a business machine and they would laugh at you.

Bad on a current model, I agree. For a model 6 years out of date there has to be a larger amount of tolerance.

So how many weeks is acceptable? My local Porsche dealer has seven outstanding at the moment. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same regulator is use on the current 991. It wouldn’t be an issue, but the regulator needs to be working to allow the door to be operated.

You've got an older model now, so you just have to wait. I understand it can be frustrating, but you can't expect Porsche to stock every part for every model, you're lucky it is still available. If you want one faster, try enquiring with overseas market to see if they have one in stock within the country.

Would people take a different view if it was a part for a warranty claim?

Nope! Suppliers have issues grim time to time, not much Porsche can do about that.

Look at the delays on Weissach pack cars at the moment for example, they're being pushed back months.

Been off the road for more than a month now. Escalated to Porsche. This is what i just got back:

I am sorry to learn of the excessive time your vehicle has been off the road for. In all instances Porsche aim for swift, efficient repairs for all our customer, however from time to time we are let down by suppliers of parts through Porsche in Germany (PAG). Currently PAG are in negotiations with a new supplier for window regulators, when new suppliers are required Porsche must ensure all necessary testing and quality checks to ensure that parts meet the high standard that Porsche and our customers expect.

When did Porsche move to Italy?

My 997 has been off the road for five weeks. My aftermarket regulator is being fitted on Monday.

Panamera S - being told 2 month delay could be 6 months for driver side fender. After inquiring w dealership turns out another customer there has already been waiting 6 months and is being told the same thing.

Waiting a year for a fender is something Porsche should be compensating. I am asking for documents to turn over to my attorney. How widespread is this issue? It isn’t an attenable sitsuation.

Very disappointed in the information process, and Porsche’s insufficient response.

I’m almost hitting 10 months with my 987 CS off the road awaiting a new rear quarter panel. Apparently they had to set up a new third party supplier to create the part. OPC were worse than useless. Porsche customer services have been great though.

When my 996 had a regulator fail I just popped to ecp and fitted it, total downtime was nothing as the window was up when it failed. Why not just do that to start with? Took me an hour to fit..

I’d like to add my experience as well. My late model Panamera was hit by another driver several months ago in October 2018. The repair shop had the car a day later and the insurance company assessed it and allowed repairs to begin within the week. All positive.

A couple of days later the shop called and said they could not located an OEM drivers side fender. Anywhere in the US. So I reached out to local Porsche club for insight, help, and ideas. They poured in but none worked. No dealer, third-party OEM dealer or even junkyard we tried had an OEM part which was required by the insurance company because of the late model and diminished value concerns. Dealers said they were experiencing the same issues. No or very slow parts availability.

So one month passes. Nothing. Second month. At this point I call Porsche NA Support line. The gentleman was very courteous. As I told him my problem I could swear I heard him sigh. He said, “Yes, we are experiencing parts delay. You’re not alone. Issue is in Germany as Porsche Germany tries to get a new manufacturer of these parts setup. We should know more in January. We will try to make this right for you.” I was stunned. I’d waited 40 years to buy my first Porsche. The legend in quality and customer service.

January is now gone. I’ve not heard a word on parts availability from Porsche NA. Luckily the owner of the shop is a fantastic person and located a private party with fenders. He got it in last week and fitted it. Alignment problems. Turns out there is slight frame damage that requires more insurance reassessment (and time). I’m hopeful that I’ll have my car back in mid-February but who can be certain. That is 1/3 of a year in shop.

Oddly, and thankfully, this is the only place I found information or others talking about this issue. I happen to know many other people are affected. Maybe there’s are not daily drivers. Mine is.

I hope Porsche sorts this issue and does make it right. I’ve had to carry a rental car, continue car payments and insurance payments the entire time. That’s a shame for a company that is so focused on customer brand loyalty and integrity particularly in regards to VW’s past issues.

Mine started in October too. Panamera S. Did they get you a part?

Even minor parts are an issue. Apparently there are shortages on the rubber grommet that seals the wiper aperture in the rear glass screen of the 997 (I assume this is possibly also the same part for the 996 too?).

I was waiting for some Cup diff plates for my 997 GT3 and have been advised that, as of some point last year, Porsche no longer supply them...

On my 997, gearbox needs rebuilding. The parts are taking forever. After 8 months, I’m still waiting on one last piece. Unbelievable!
