997.1 C2S with Sports Chassis - How many?
Discussion
Hi, I have a very nice 997.1 C2S with the Sports Chassis option.
Some of you may be aware that this was a no cost option instead of PASM and lowered the S a further 10mm from a PASM car and included stiffer springs, dampers and anti roll bars plus a mechanical LSD.
Does anyone have any idea how many 997.1 models were specc'd with this - I'm guessing not many?
I am very grateful to the original owner who also included:
PCCBs
PSE
Short shift
Sport Chrono
Bose
TPMS
Nav
16 way sports seats
This created a pretty handling focussed C2S.
I originally had a C2S with PASM and steel brakes and always felt the PASM in normal was too soft and sport mode too hard (even for the 'Ring) so have found the Sports Chassis just right for a spirited b road blast.
Any details on how many were built would be really appreciated.

Not many I suspect. I have driven one but sorry to say I don't share your enthusiasm. I agree Sport is too hard on PASM but normal is brilliant in my opinion and better on road than the your set-up - something road testers of the time agreed on from memory. Although yours looks good as a bit lower and may be better on track.
I've got one with very similar spec to yours including the sports chassis and tend to agree with poster above that pootling around it's a bit firm. Comes alive when you are on it however. I will possibly go down the Ohlins route at some point. They were sublime in my Renault and the way they absorbed the potholed a and B roads we have here was extremely impressive.
if I remember rightly (I usually do) the original PCGB 997.1 C2S press car in arctic silver had the passive sport chassis option (together with PCCB's etc), but the car I ordered was with the standard active PASM and i always regretted it. the passive dampers, whilst firm, brought the chassis alive and I suspect because that's how the press car was specced is one of the reasons why it got such rave reviews at the time. your car sounds like a proper mini-GT3 spec.
I do have a black/black, manual 997.1 C2 with the -20mm sport suspension and the 40% LSD.
What a superb car! It is firm, but never uncomfortable. I regularly do long trips all across Europe wit the OH and she never complaint either.
I do lack all the other performance goodies like PSE, carbon brakes, sport chrono or short shift, but to me it is all the 911 I ever need.
Also on the creature comfort front I have little. Extended leather with seat heating and cruise control are basically all options I have.
To me it is an absolutely peach of a car! The absolute essence of a road 911, imho.
