I'm thinking of changing my 997.2 Turbo Coupe for a 991 Turbo S Cab - most likely a Gen 1 as my budget is max £115k.
Are there any views on what 2014/5 cars are doing at the moment - especially the cab's ? (The cab is my wife's idea, not mine!)

I don't use the 997 as a DD and the 991 would be the same - probably 5-7k per year.

If the depreciation curve on the older 991's looks like it's bottoming out, then I'll buy now, but if not I may hang on to the 997 for a while longer as prices seem pretty firm, if not increasing at the moment.

Appreciate any views....

Probably best to hang onto the 997 for a few years with 992 due in 12 months for turbo s. Having said that. Just bought a new one and sold our 997. Placed order last Sept and went new because used price on the S is crazy.

Generally even with Porsche after 3 years the car should retain 50 percent of its value so a 2013 turbo s for £100k is dear IMO. I’d personally go for a used gen 2 991 turbo cab. It’s basically similar to the gen 1 turbo s in terms of power etc doesn’t have CL and PCCB which can be a pain as these cars get older. You’re looking a bit newer but 2013 turbo s still £100k. I can see these at £80k when 992 turbo with 600bhp for base car and 630bhp for 992 turbo s

Thanks DD.
A non "s" gen 2 991 turbo is something I'll look at - as you say, there's very little difference in power and I'm not bothered about PCCB either.
Trouble is, I don't want black, white or red..... which narrows the choice considerably!

Looking at 997 Turbo S prices, they've risen by about 10% since 2015 and are now around £80-90k for an OPC car, so I guess a £20k premium for a 991 gen 1 turbo s is probably a benchmark. I think you're right that anything over £100 - 105k is starting to look expensive.

Recently I have been regretting the sale of my 996 Gt3 and 996 turbo Manual.

I’m currently driving a McLaren 12c which is an unbelievable car but bonkers fast! I am thinking of getting something slower next and have been looking a Porsche’s again. When I am browsing the internet and “windows” shopping I am noticing a compression in the market because 997’s going up in value, lots of 997/991 GT3 & turbos for sale and more cars being released which will mean more cars coming in the used market. I am not as confident in the market at the moment.

They've improved the gen 2 vanilla 991 turbo even more in terms of drivability. It can do clever things with its turbos like hold on to boost whilst you're braking. Also the updated front end looks a bit less fussy with its daytime twin running lights etc. I can't tell the difference in power between the gen 1 or gen 2 cars personally whether s or non s. All feel very fast. No faster than your 997 mind. Just handling and braking on a different level. Straight line speed about the same. Refinement obviously better too but still loads of tyre roar from those rear tyres. My comments are only based on if you're looking at depreciation. The gen 2 will be slower in this respect IMO.

I can't see your 997 turbo s losing any value in the interim period. Don't think there were many RHD coupes made and to my eye the 997 is the prettiest turbo we've seen since the 993 turbo without all the extra maintenance hassle of an air cooled. Perfect size as well for our roads.

Its funny the two cars you've sold are the two Porsches I still feel are very good VFM. I've alway been concerned giving up my manual for a PDK. Don't think I can ever do it. I'm looking to add a 996 if I can. The 12C. You're a very brave man if its not under Mcl warranty. Very nice cars.

I also regret selling DB9 Manual, Silver Spirit, B5 RS4 and Manual NSX and so on. I always buy a “keeper” and then get an itch for something else. The McLarens are awesome cars. The car is under warranty. The only issue I had was getting a system reset to sort the radio. I use it a lot and it has no issues so far. The problem I have is value. The McLarens are truly great value compared to Porsche’s and Ferrari’s etc.

Driving a McLaren does feel very cool.

I'm with you. Mulling over moving to Mcl over next few years. Think Porsche are difficult to deal with if you want to try GT and more and more voting with their feet. High revving Mcl a good alternative and British too which is nice. Very cool cars.

There’s a black/black car for sale. 5k miles. Sep 2016 car. Glass roof and other essentials.

Private at 138k asking. That looks decent to me. If you interested let me know and I can make the connection.

£138k is well over my budget of £120k I'm afraid - and at that difference, it's probably not worth either my or the seller's time bargaining..
