997.2 Bluetooth audio options - tune2air?
Discussion
Hi all
Had my 997.2 dropped off yesterday and I'm very keen to get Bluetooth audio from my android phone connected. I did a bit of research and found the tune2air was getting a lot of positive comments from other marques but I'm a little confused as to which model to buy. Does anyone have any experience with these on a pcm3?
Thanks
Ed

Yep! Any help welcome!
This little device works brilliantly...https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NEKAJCC/ref...
I have two of them in different cars, an elderly Range Rover and a Morgan. The phone connects automatically on bluetooth every time (assuming you leave the bluetooth on before starting the engine). It's very small too - so unobtrusive.
The enclosed jack to jack lead is very short - which works fine for me as the USB port is right next door to the AUX in socket - but if you have a run of more than say, 4 inches, buy another lead for it.
Job jobbed!
I have one of these in my 987.2:

It is what used to be called tune2air (think they rebranded at some point). Anyway, it plugs into the y-cable you should have under the arm rest and works a treat with iOS and Android. If you're on iOS you'll get track names and previous / next control for all music apps like Spotify, etc. On Android you don't get the track names but you do get previous / next control on any music app. I've had it over a year and it's always worked flawlessly and if a phone call comes in it switches seamlessly to the PCM, then when you hang up the music starts playing again.

Would this product not do the same for a much cheaper price ?

The i-SYNC is compatible with a large number of Docks & Speakers including (but not limited to) Bose; Roberts; Gear4; Sony (most models); Cambridge Audio; Apple Original Dock, Logic3, Kitsound & JBL. Note, the i-SYNC will not work if your dock only accepts a digital signal. (E.g. Cars) For these please purchase our Bluetooth Plug (B00O41VXNO) or one of our CAR AUX models, or contact LAYEN for advice."
Depends on what the interface accepts...

Have just bought the Bovee 1000...but it didn't come with a connecting cable. Do you know what cable I need to be able to connect to my 997.2?https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B52LLJ6/

So the cable originally comes with the car (I'm guessing a previous owner must have misplaced it) and plugs into the USB and iPod ports under the armrest. It's this one:

They often crop up on eBay but I'm only seeing them on the US at the moment.

Thanks! I mentioned this to the OPC where I bought the 997....and they have popped a cable in the post so job done! So far they have made the buying process, and the post-sale follow-up, very pain free.
Mine turned up today. Plug and play. Easy peasy.
Don't think there is something similar for 997.1. On my '06 S I replaced the head unit at a cost of around £1200 but got better functionality all round (sat nav, DAB etc). Another option is a Parrot MK1 9000 system but unsure if compatible?

Hi V12; which dongle did you go for and are you finding you can control the playback via PCM/your car?Don't think there is something similar for 997.1. i have a 987 gen 2, with PCM1.....
whats the best way to retro-fit bluetooth etc..
I have watched a few vids, the unit removal looks straight forward..
but is it best to replace the whole unit with a touchscreen unit - if so whats the most compatible considering its a PCM1, or retrofit an aux in etc?...
