Occurred 6 months ago and I need to get it fixed really - happened after a full detail / leather refurb at a place recommended on here, they also removed some particularly thick, safety plastic on side windows. Although its hard to see a connection I guess a cable may have been disconnected by accident.

I googled and found a helpful thread on rennlist
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/832179-winds...

but obviously some wording differences, and passenger side might = driver side

anyone here had the same problem and can describe the solution?
is it clear which fuse I should pull in the fusebox to force a reset?
I also found reference to resetting PCM by pressing 1-4-8, can anyone explain how/when you do this

You're doing well. My old Land Rover sat nav was convinced that I lived in the sea off the Ivory Coast.

I had something similar but not the same, on a 997 GTS after windscreen replacement.

The sat nav could not escape the Chichester Bypass, and it transpired the GPS antenna had not been reconnected (under the frunk lid near windscreen base) after a windscreen replacement and the system has some memory. Service manager reconnected it in 2 minutes and all was well.

Unless you have been on a ferry it would seem to be a different issue but worth checking antenna and wiring anyway.

You haven't managed to accidentally set it to fixed position mode have you?

I had a similar issue which persisted after fuse pulling and reset. Turned out I had accidentally set fixed position mode and scrolled somewhere on the map, press the right hand knob and check the correct option ( can't remember what it is offhand ) is selected.

Had a similar experience on a 987.2 after a replacement screen, as mentioned the GPS sensor sits under the panel under the bonnet nearest the screen, takes longer to remove the panel than reconnect the sensor.

no, it started being a street or to out, then a few miles , then 10, now it has packed its bags and is off on an international adventure - I live in London and my car has never been in the sea, ferry or otherwise

To close the loop

Car was at 9 Excellence having a service and some TLC - was indeed the dislodged wire, must have been done during the detailing around that time.

Car is no longer swimming in the north sea, which is nice
