Thanks guys, mine is a non-aero car and looks rather plain without it. In some ways since I've re-fitted the original amber lights, even more so!

On a car with aero it works without.

On a car without, I think they look much better with the badge. I prefer the pre facelift ‘high’ position, though.

Being an R-plate 98 car I need to look at that, before the scary bit of fitting the badge!
I acquired a genuine, brand new badge cheaply buts its currently more a graphite grey colour that just blends into the paintwork...
