Petronas Oil for 997.1
Discussion
I am planning on changing the oil on my 997 next week, first time since its engine re-build.
Having had a look online everyone seems to go for the Millers Nanodrive which I was planning on getting however when chatting to my local Porsche specialist the other day when booking my car in for some minor work he recommended Petronas oil 5w40 as it is fully Porsche approved.
He uses it on 95% of the Porsches which come through his garage and has for a long time (he had 2 x 45 gallon drums of it!). He said the Millers is a good oil and didn't knock it but said he only uses that on the cars his customer use for track days etc and that for the mileage I do (maybe 3k per year as its a second car) the Petronas is cheaper and will be just as good.
Has anyone used the Petronas, I presume if its Porsche approved it cant be a bad thing?
I am putting the car in storage from October for the winter so looking to change the oil now rather than later.

I'd stay with Millars too, because, well, what's cheaper, Oil or a new engine?Having had a look online everyone seems to go for the Millers Nanodrive which I was planning on getting however when chatting to my local Porsche specialist the other day when booking my car in for some minor work he recommended Petronas oil 5w40 as it is fully Porsche approved.

I'd also buy the oil now but change it when the car comes out of hibernation as 'Winter is com..' - Sorry, Winter will take its toll in the form of moisture ingress, so a change ready for Spring will be much more prudent.
