A friend has just linked me to this news article, apparently the car is 1 of 19 but we can't for the life of us work out what makes it 1 of 19.
I'm not for a moment suggesting the daily mail or the owner would try blow the facts out of proportion and am certainly not taking joy from someone else's crash

Just wondered if the wealth of Porsche knowledge could shed some light on this?

Who reads the daily hail to find anything close to being informative. Just waste of paper and internet space.

The owner is posting on a Porsche Facebook group, he thinks it's worth £20k

The £80k is probably Daily Mail bullst

This is what he has posted

"So I'm the owner of the porsche, the paper have made all that crap up! It's worth 20k with an agreed value, there are 7 996 gen 2 c4 cabs left from 2002 think there's 12 more from 2003/4. So yes it rarer than most. It's not a super car. I wasn't at fault. The chav not racer in the KA caused this, he nearly killed us, the drivers of the other cars and children playing behind the wall where I ended up... Yes, my quick reactions stopped a very different outcome from Happening.... yet I'm the bad guy?! This is crazy, how am I getting bad press for getting my pride and joy smashed to bits by a speeding driver overtaking on the wrong side of the road in a 30?????"

I didn't claim that, it's a quote from the owner, as I stated above

I thought the only reason anyone "read" it was to do some one-handed web surfing looking at the 10th rate so-called celebrity related w*nkbait down the right hand side. Isn't it?

Yes not having a go at you, more ridiculing the quote.

I had a quick look at AT, there are 6 for sale (It's a manual BTW) I think he is using 'how many left' which has been questioned for it's accuracy before. TBH he is getting a bit of a hard time. which on a Porsche based FB group seems odd but there you have it smile

Guy gets his pride and joy written off. Has an agreed value policy at £20K. I wish him well. I am not feeling the love for this guy around here which I find a little odd

+1
poor guy
I was gutted when somebody ran into the rear of my car - and that was a lot less severe than what his car looks like now

Agreed, but worth calling out that the poor guy has lost his pride and joy. A £20k 996 is a huge deal for someone who has worked hard to put their dream car in the garage. That might be lost on those debating whether to finally swap their 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and 991.1 GT3 for a 991.2 GT2 RS and 991 R, but a big deal for him.

The article is a bit rubbish and totally inaccurate but still feel sorry for him.

£80k - original purchase price? Even that sounds high for a C4 cab though

My 2003 C2 Cab cost me £74000 so I'm guessing £80000 would be about right.

His has the factory aero kit which was a few quid, add PCM, a few niceties and you're up to £80000.
