I have a 911 GTS on order at my local OPC.

Delivery was due this month however according to the Porsche system, it's been in the bodyshop for a few weeks and won't be delivered until next month.

First question - what are the general reasons for such delays? If it's the waiting of parts surely they can identify that deficiency before commencing manufacture and delay the process?

Secondly, one of the options offered by my OPC is to have a product called Gardx applied to the bodywork at a cost of £400 inc VAT.

I am sceptical.

Has anyone experience of this product? Alternatives?

Many thanks.

Can't comment on the delay but I would tell the dealer not to touch the paintwork with their treatment. Better to tell the dealer not to wash or prep the paintwork when it's delivered and get a reputable independent detailer to protect it with a product from gtechniq or similar that will last longer. I had it on a Maserati Granturismo which and it lasted well over the 2.5 years I had the car. Should be similar cost.

I would get it detailed by an independent and paint protection film wrapped. Had it on my last Ferrari and it gave peace of mind. Cost around 4K so it's not cheap when done properly
