Weiss gold wheels
Discussion
I have a black 997 GT3 which has had black wheels for most of its life. I've had the car a few years and have always wanted to change them, but hadn't made it happen until now. I have been switching a few times in my mind during the past 18 months between standard silver and weiss gold, ever since I saw some photos of a black GT2 with weiss gold wheels. I finally bit bullet with the latter.
It's surprising to me to see how different the car can look.
Dirty after an early morning weekend run:
On replacement wheels while mine got refurbished:
Clean in morning sun:
Wheels today:
It's amazing how much the wheels change depending on levels of sunlight, the above is with just a tiny hint of sun poking between the clouds. In full sunlight they're incredibly reflective. I'm delighted with the outcome, I think I'll have to find somewhere to park up when it's sunny, grab a coffee and just stare at it. The car is now on Cup2s as well so I'm looking forward to trying those out on a track day.

Funny I also recently went from Black wheels to Weiss Gold along with some 911R stripes and a Magnus Walker Flag on the back. Had the car 4.5yrs now and maybe not everyone's cup of Tea but can all easily be removed. Car looks great and more racecar like in the flesh. Completely transformed. Feels like having a new car.

Also when renewing tyres on the GT3 I'd personally go for a 245 at the front whilst keeping 305s at the back. Helps reduce understeer.
On the GT2 you can go GT2 RS tyre size with 245 and 325 section tyres. White GT2 looks like its already sporting the larger section GT2 RS size tyres

Not sure about the fronts going to 245 as presently 235 factory size, but back tires are 325 factory size same as RS. Change all to CUP 2's and difference from previous is very noticeable. And they look great. :-)On the GT2 you can go GT2 RS tyre size with 245 and 325 section tyres. White GT2 looks like its already sporting the larger section GT2 RS size tyres

Is Weiss Gold the new Black?
Those GT3s and GT2s look very nice on those wheels chaps.
Well the pictures don't really do them justice. They look like jewels. Finish is very subtle and with a bit of light or sun on them look fantastic. Was somewhat bored of black and had a vision for the 911R stripes, decals and flags and it was either silver or Weiss Gold for the wheels to go with the new look, completely lifts the car. Those GT3s and GT2s look very nice on those wheels chaps.

You can go 245 35 19 at the front. They work with 7 GT2 rims which are 8.5 inches wide at the front. You should get less understeer and more steering weight if you find this an issue hence the GT2 RS going for wider track at front and wider tyres. Well worth trying if you do track days etc. For road driving not needed at all. Car looks fantastic - reminds me of the Sharkwerks GT2 over the pond but yours looks nicer IMO
Cool. I will give the bigger ones a go next time I think, and thanks, the Sharkwerks car was certainly the inspiration for the flags on the wing, thought it tied the car together quite nicely and the Weiss Gold wheels really go with the black and red. Wish I'd done it earlier, but in time for summer anyway.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
