Plenty of choice out there, my advice is to get a loaded one as second hand you get the spec cheap. Don't miss heated seats on a cab, probably doubles your opportunities to use the car roof down

Just got my 997.2 carrera 2S cab so too early to give much feedback other than to say initially it's great! It doesn't have a PSE but after nearly 15 years of loud TVR ownership I can honestly say it refreshing to hear the engine and exhaust albeit I guess it's a little tame at lower revs but generally agree with the above.
Best try a few and see what you prefer?
I'd say biggest choice is manual v DSG? I've gone DSG and so far thinks it's spot on

you can't hear much of the engine in a 997 it's not like in a Boxster or Cayman where it's right behind you. I think that once 90% of people tried a PSE car they would want it. Depends if you want to hear exhaust noise or engine noise. You choose.
Watch out for squeeky rooftops. Best is to test the car, roof up, on some bad quality roads at low speed. A bit of flexing of the body or roof can make some very annoying squeeky noises. This can be fixed though with some lubricant that does not damage the rubber seal (ie not vaseline). Otherwise, when the weather is good, cabrios are great fun and the sound coming from the rear is fabulous :-)

Yep, it is worth distinguishing that the Gen 2 is especially quiet. Jump in a GT3 and you'll understand what engine noise really is.As has been said, you can get an PSE and just leave it switched off for the best of both worlds. Although in my mind, the PSE is far too restrained in the Gen 2. The 'Gundo Hack' also doesn't work in the Gen 2.
All 997.2 (including the PSE equipped cars) benefit from a bypass pipe to remove the central exhaust silencer. Its such a simple fix for the way-too-quiet Gen 2 engine!
