It's nothing new. This is a development of early attempts at aerodynamics that were pioneered in the 1950s with the 356 Coupe.

This amateurish setup seems so naive to us today when we all now know that removing the baubles and fairy lights improves the handling no end

And that the pointy end should be at the front.
