997.2 Values

Down. Even the GTS which currently is back to list for good spec and mileage examples.

Good spec low mileage cars aren't dropping much now.

May do a tad over winter, but I doubt by a lot.

Not a lot else out there as good as a 997.2 in the £35k - £45k price band so prices have stuck there this year it seems.

I bought one 2 months ago after looking for about 4 months prior to that.

I would imagine they will gently depreciate. The 991 will put pressure on them as they drop, but not by much.

A pretty safe buy I reckon!

Yup. The mechanical element of the 997.2 that will date the quickest is the PDK box, people that in five or ten years time are looking at 997's because it's got an NA engine and hydraulic steering will probably not want PDK because the contemporary PDK will have seen two generations of improvement.

Yup. Got a 997.2 C2S manual and keep an eye on prices from time to time just for reference and research purposes.

I'd say prices have firmed up slightly for that spec over the last year.

They have only been gently dropping for some years. GTS enjoyed a bit of a lift. Unless everything moves down, that will probably continue.

Ive been looking at gen II's for the last year or so... Too much deliberating has meant I have missed out on some decent cars...

Prices have been very firm over the last year, in fact I would say they have probably ticked up a little. Certainly the GTS which has gone up a fair old amount.

The gen II was made in reasonably small numbers compared to the gen 1, certainly in manual coupe form which I would be interested in. That combined with the mechanical horror stories of the first means they are always going to be the more desired of the none Gt and turbo 997's and prices should reflect that.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them rise in years to come and start to gain parity with the early 991 which was, rightly or wrongly, deemed bloated and lacking feel compared to the 997 by some.

It will be very interesting to see how prices do now that 991.1's are avaulable for the top end of 997.2 money.

Manual, ducktail/sport design kit, sports exhaust, PASM sport suspension, adaptive seats. Great spec in my mind. At £64k its at 997.2 GTS money and expensive for a 991.1 of that age. Cheapest manual 991.1 manual cars are sub £60k now.

I wouldn't buy that car...not a great spec....also think its a bit expensive for that mileage. No Sport Chrono, Bose or Adaptive Seats....or crucially in my book the Short Shift Kit although that can be retrofitted. Also doesn't have things like Heated Seats , Park Assist or Dimming Mirrors which a lot of people want.

I have just looked on the locator and there are no manual Carrera S 997's apart from the GTS!

I had no idea they were to rare...

I know it's a very rare car and I absolutely love the look of it but I just don't understand the price of them given there's absolutely nothing mechanical to differentiate it from a 997 GTS.

I've was looking at them for a while before buying mine recently and they've been pretty steady. You're still looking at high 30's for a decent spec 2S.

The one at RPM Technik looks great value from a respected dealer:

I was looking for a nice 997.2 S for a friend this time last year and they were about 45k plus for a decent one.

Going by this they've come down 5k in 12 months which is ok i guess. Depreciation will slow further now though.
I consider the 997.2 to be a very nice modern 911 and one that will be highly regarded in years to come. I has something of the 993 shape about it too.
996 is a good car but will always have the engine issues as will the 997.1.

I agree a 997.2 manual is a good buy right now...
