Having just purchased a 997.1 3.8 s I'm looking to make a few upgrades and wanted to improve the sound with an aftermaket exhaust. Is it worth changing the mufflers and cats or the whole lot?? Any body done this mod and any tips, cost, performance gains etc!!!

I've got my eye on the Sharkwerks centre muffler kit: reduces weight, adds noise, maybe even releases some power

Do a search for the Carnewal mods on here as they appear to be one of the best and least expensive options.

Cargraphic and get some REAL BHP as well with a manifold change.

Power kit 2 increases performance to:

281KW / 382PS at 6400rpm
439Nm at 4500rpm

Power kit 2 includes:
- ECU Control Unit programming only
- Sport air filter
- Manifold Set
- 200cell Catalyser X
- Rear Silencer
- Tailpipe Set

Worth a look at Armytrix - I know they are loud, not too sure of performance gains or cost.

The OP's Gen 1 lacks the centre silencer.

Apologies in advance for the Victor Maturity post...

Exhausts are great mods and i'm all for more power - however, in your position I might be spending my money instead on measures that will protect/insure me against potential engine trouble in the future. Well documented as I'm sure you're aware. Getting on a Hartech plan would seem a sensible move to me.

If you've got the dough for mods + preemptive maintenance good on ya!! :-)
