997 suspension / chassis differences
Discussion
Hi,
I've got the 997 Carerra Carerra 4 GTS - great car like all 997's! -
Several years ago I test drove a 997 Carrera S [mk 1 manual] - where the feeling of the drive was "floaty" due to the PASM - and the sensation of the engine in the rear was apparent - A nice weird feeling as most cars like my Golf have the engine in the front.
On my 997 C4 GTS with the 4 wheel drive the sensation of the engine in rear is less apparent and also the suspension is PASM sport which is minus 20mm on the base Carerra where as the 997 Carerra S [mk 1] [test drive] had PASM suspension minus 10mm which was better for general road driving as it soaks up the lumps and bumps in the roads a lot better. On a better road the C4 GTS with sport PASM is great to drive but too firm on bad roads as it unsettles the car quite a bit.
Also on the 997 GTS the anti roll bars are stiffer at the front [25%] and rear [30%] approx. compared to the base 997 Carerra / Carerra S
I'm here to ask about the 997 turbo / turbo S - and the suspension differences compared to GTS with sports PASM -
I'd be great to hear from others here who know the differences - Thanks
