I want to buy a Carrera 4 convertible- it will only have occasional use both summer and winter ( hence the 4) with storage periods between seasons.
I have been glancing over 964 ads for many years now, but never did buy one ( prices gone up so much).... Ran a 993 targa a while ago and loved the old school feel.
Have found a very nice restored ( so hopefully no more major spend issues) 1990 c4 convertible for offered at 35k GBP now..... Am bit mixed between just paying 15k less for an immaculate 996 c4s ( but in worst case get hit with IMS), or paying up bit more for a high mileage 997 gen 2 which should have no major issues going forward....
Bit all over the place my ....What do you 911 purists think?

Half agreed- winter tires are probably more important than 4wd.... My holiday place is in the Alps, so do quite a lot of snow and ice driving. I bought the"legendary" Merc G wagon a few years ago and my first season I drove down with all season tires.... What a bad idea that was!
For certain situations though 4wd is still an advantage, that said very low probability of such situation compared to better all round c2 driving.... So actually more than half agreed ...
....do not remind me of that, should NEVER have sold that 993 targa I had...
