Bit of help Pretty please
Discussion
Looking to find out the differences between gen1 and gen2 997's. Thinking about getting back into a 911 cabriolet.
Can anyone point me to the posts that will help? I'm keen to understand servicing differences for PDF vs manual as well...
Also any advice on wheel size as relates to comfort on a 997 and different seat options....I found 996 turbo seats too tight and am currently in m spec 335 BMW and that's a bit snug...I'm big and tall.
Obviously I'll test but appreciate any guidance on the above so I don't waste anyone's time!
Cheers!

There's loads of threads on here with the differences.
Gen2, PCM 3 (touchscreen) engine is different (better apparently) PDK option, plus many more that I don't recall as I have a Gen 1
Go for adaptive sports seats with memory once you have the correct seat comfort you can save it to one of the three memory settings and you'll be good
Someone else will be along with a lot more info

Hi, Apart from some styling differences (LED front/rear lights etc) & better PCM, the main & important differences are in the engine. Gen 1 997s can suffer from bore scoring & some IMS problems - worst case scenario is a replacement engine or rebuild. According to my indy they arn't isolated problems. They see plenty of engine problems with Gen 1s. Gen 2 997s have a much modified DFI engine with much more oil cooling, now no IMS & other differences that someone more mechanically oriented will be able to tell you. it's worth reading the Hartech web site. The differences have gone a long way to probably almost eradicating the early problems with the gen 1's. in short Gen 2's are supposed to be much more reliable.

I was under the impression that the engine was a clean sheet design rather than a mod/evo.Also I believe there is significant work in the suspension as Gen2 both ride better and have better turn in/front end.
PCM3 is a huge leap over PCM2, as is PDK over Tip.
