X51 Power Kit and Engine Reliability
Discussion
Hi Folks,
Quick question; does anyone know if the X51 Power kit on a Gen 1 997 makes any difference to the potential for bore scoring or other reliability issues? Idly looking at a car with this factory fitted kit at the moment and see that there are a lot of internals that are changed with the fitting of the kit. Was therefore wondering if this could increase or decrease the likelihood of bore scoring.
Thanks for the expert feedback,
Cheers

None of the different parts will have anything to do with the inherent weaknesses of the engines. The extra power has the potential to do more damage/do damage more quickly but it's anyone's guess to what degree. I'd rather have a manual X51 car than a Tip from a bore-score potential perspective (as well as much preferring the drive too).
Yup, that was my gut feeling too but I figured it was worth asking all of you experts.
Totally agree on the Tip thing. Not driven one but I don't think I'd be completely happy buying one of these lovely cars to then not have the opportunity to heel and toe.
Very tempted, even though this would be very naughty from a financial point of view.
If it do go for it I hope it will be more heel and toe than heel and tow!
