If you have Porsche Assist cover, why would you be charged?

As centre-locks become more common on the Porsche range, I would expect Porsche Assist to be attending an increased number of punctures!

Even with standard wheels, without a spare wheel, many people will seek help from Porsche Assist, particular as the tyre gel is appropriate for only the simplest of repairs.

I was walking back into the house when my son wanted to know what the hissing noise was coming from the back of the car.
"You're hearing things, son" was my standard reply but alas, a huge nail had punctured a back tyre, Porsche assist arranged a local firm to pick up my 991 within a few hours, service was great- there is nothing like a tow truck with a new Porsche on it to get the neighbours curtains twitching...

The pick up was free but once dropped off at the OPC things got a bit pricey...Not sure if they'd drop you at the tyre dealer of your choice...

Sorry should have mentioned it's a 7.1 therefore no centre locks.
So assuming your at the side of the road on a Sunday or at night would they just recover back to a Porsche garage?

As PA contract the AA I'd suggest weighing up whether to drop the PA aspect off your warranty renewal and just join the AA separately so you have more options if you have a puncture i.e. take the car/tyre to somewhere that can repair the puncture for £15-£20, a big saving (especially compared to "we don't repair tyres, we can't get that tyre in an N2 anymore, sir, you'll have to replace all 4 tyres with N4s" eek ) and it will also get you you going again a lot quicker. On an equivalent level of AA cover you'll only get a basic hire car if you need one but that's probably reflected in the premium.

I've had two punctures with Porsche assistance.

They didn't insist on taking the car to Porsche either time. First time it was taken home and I got a mobile fitter to replace the tyre, second time they took me to a local tyre place.

The assistance price isn't bad if you ever drive to Europe as it includes full cover.

I had that on my approved ops car about 4 days after I bought it - they'd only fit 4 new tyres of current N spec. From rate of air loss I was able to show that it had the puncture when I collected it - ended up going 50:50 with PCGB on 4 new PS/2s (the old specs ones were down to about 4mm)
