Hi all

Last year I decided to take my Turbo to the next level new exhaust performance filter and re-map now running 560Bhp ish with around 720 Nm torque (Transformed an already brilliant car into an amazing one). Now I have a new problem frown the power was increased which now has resulted in the clutch beginning to slip around 5000 revs. I would assume the car is still on the original clutch as it has just over 30,000 miles on it. Any advice which clutch to buy, where to source from, best to change flywheel as well, is it an engine out job, what kind of cost ???

I would fit a Sachs 980nm clutch, same feel, but the bite is a bit further up the pedal. No need to take the engine out, and a good indy can do this in a day no problem so long as no other issues.
Matt at Fearnsport did mine.

No need to change the flywheel.

Costs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, £1400 upwards, depending, fitted.

I ran a standard clutch for 70,000 miles on a 997 Turbo with 570 bhp, including about 25 track days. JZM fitted a new standard clutch for me just before I sold it.

Thanks for the reply's guys! it's interesting to know that a standard clutch lasted that could be an option I'll price both options up see where I go.

I doubt the car that ran 70k miles on a standard clutch had a real 570bhp. Sachs 2.5 is fine and feels OEM and is cheaper to boot. Speak to JZM or 9e.

It wes Dyno confirmed, remapped, filter, full Tubi system, 571 Bhp. I ran 70,000 miles after being tuned on the standard clutch, then JZ replaced for me.

Depends on the dyno hence you should take these read outs with a pinch of salt. I've heard of cars with similar tunes to yours with Dyno read outs of 620+ bhp. With a tune and exhaust the most you can get on stock turbos on a nice cool day is between 530bhp - 550 bhp. You will not get more than this according to Ruf, Cargraphic, 9ff , 9e etc. I suppose if your drive your car sympathetically and do not load an OEM clutch in high gears anything is possible but it points to your car not having the power that your tuner claims it has rather than an OEM clutch being fine for a tuned car IMO.

Had exactly this problem with my 997 gen 1 which is on a stage 2 map and Miltek. Any serious boost in higher gears resulted in clutch slip. I was advised that that the standard clutch is unlikely to cope with any significant torque increase over a standard car. Got a Sachs 870nm clutch fitted at 9e and am very pleased with the result. Bite point is a bit more unforgiving but only took a bit of getting used to and no slip at all. And all cheaper than a standard clutch. Highly recommended.
