GT3 996.2 How many left?

IIRC there were 221 mk2 Gt3 brought to the Uk, i guess a few have died on track and in accidents, anyone know how many are left, even better if there is a comfort/club sport split?

Site would suggest around 222 left which would be MkIIs & RSs, out of I guess around 330. Surprised the attrition rate is that high! Which suggest something is odd about the data.

I think imports affect the data also?

Edit: this is the definition:
Date of first registration is the date that a vehicle first became known to the DVLA. This is usually the same as the year the car was built.
Imports will be counted under the year they were brought into the UK, and some restored classic vehicles will be counted under the year they were brought back on the road.

On a serious note (not that they aren't worth £90k of course!) has there ever been a 6.2 register? I know Evoeng runs one for 6 gt2's but to anyone's knowledge has there ever been one for 996 gt3s. If not, given the attrition rate and the fact they are future classics in the making (😉) what's to stop us starting one now.

Here's the first on the list, mine;

996 Gt3 mkII, Reg GT03TDT, polar silver, comfort spec with buckets (and deposit paid with Steve at JZM to install techequipment cage and harnesses). Can't remember the chassis/engine number at the mo as on holidays but will update this later.

Let me know, I'm happy to start building a register up in Excel if people think it's a good idea - Either reply or PM me with details of cars.

No worries if there's not the appetite for it either, I'll just return to my beer in the sun by the pool.

A register would be interesting, I think it would be good to keep a record of 6.2 GT3s but not sure if putting all information regarding chassis numbers etc on an open forum is a great idea. Just my thoughts as I have often wondered how many 6.2s are left.

I am trying to figure out how many 996 Turbo S coupe/cabrios are out there....

'How Many Left?' is much harder to get to an answer here!

I agree with the security issues re an open list of serial numbers etc.

So how do we go about compiling a list then?

It can't be that hard to do given probably 50%+ of owners are on this forum already.

perhaps sensitive information should be kept private by personal email but it wont hurt to publish the numbers on the forum regarding how many cars are on the register and colours if you get one started.

seeing there was a glimmer of interest i started a facebook page for the 996 GT3 Club, from there i think we can create a private group that only invited people can join, if we wanted to start a more detailed database? however i am certainly no social media guru, so I'm happy to be steered by others.

Just for sharing pics and stuff it could be good, the 964 page has a massive following !
