Trying to open bonnet in 997.1 gt3 with a dead battery

Hi, can anyone help please?

Battery in my GT3 is completely dead. I used a donor battery to try to open bonnet as instructed (positive attached to bonnet junction in fuse box; negative on door hinge). Ignition key that had been stuck in ignition was released at this point, suggesting some juice, but I still wasn't able to open bonnet to access battery.

Any ideas gratefully received? I'm not set up to take wheels / wells off to try to locate the actual cable etc. so if this is now only route left, I suppose I'm calling JZM!

After connecting the slave battery leave for a few minutes and try opening bonnet with key fob press release...it worked for me when the floor switch didn't. Good luck.

Same as above, keep the bonnet release button on the key pressed for a good 20-30 seconds and hopefully she will pop open!

Thanks All for the tips. Bonnet now open - battery completely discharged as suspected. Assuming trickle charging doesn't resurrect, new one is probably long overdue!

I just had the same issue (key locked as well)...called Porsche assistance as I didn't have a spare battery around.




I was told there is a work-around, you'll need a few tools though.






By the way - can anyone confirm that trickle-charging the battery back to life is a no-go?

Trickle charge should need at least 12 hours, then go for a blast for 30 miles to top it up.
Ps. How did your car flip from green to yellow

Would it be a possibility to jumpstart it, drive for about 60miles and then trickle-charge it for a day or two?
I need to drop it off for some mods.

Sadly I don't have a power plug near the car and didn't drive it all winter, hence it's completely flat.

If the battery has been dead for a long time it may not recharge. A 60 mile run will be enough to recharge it if its not knackered.
Been caught out with this a few times so I made up a lead which I plug into the cigarette light then connect to a spare battery this then provides power to be able to open the bonnet without having to get to the manual cable. +ve is the centre of the ciggy lighter, do not connect the wrong way round.
