Hi there,

Heard from Mannings today that from renewal of policy (so March 2015 for me) Euro track day cover will be subject to an additional £250 per day charge if your car is worth under £99.99k. £500 per day if over £100k. Used to be included in standard policy for no additional fee.

I'm sure this is old news to some, so has anyone discovered a credible alternative to the old Mannings policy of unlimited UK and Euro track day cover with 10% excess as long as run by ATDO member?

Cheers

I think the Mannings policy was unique in the market & reputedly the underwriters suffered too many losses at Spa recently to continue blanket inclusive cover. I know of at least one major accident/total loss per year at Spa involving GT3s insured with Mannings over the last 5 years & I have heard that the attrition rate for TVR (same underwriter) was worse.

The business case doesn't seem to stack up so I doubt anyone else will take the risk on the same basis as before. I think the fact that the underwriters have effectively re-priced the risk on European tracks says it all.

It was good while it lasted though wink

Thanks Nick. Shame, but you can see their point of view. At least they will cover. Unfortunately as you well know Spa and NBR are a bit like crack cocaine so I guess I'll just be stumping up the extra!

I will be returning to Comp Car Insurance, underwritten by Avia.
Includes 5 trackdays, ( 3 in Eurooe )
Unfortunately this won't include The Ring frown. I can live with this as Spa and Zandvoort are my favs.
For me I can't justify £500 for Ring TD, then a extra £250, plus hotel, fuel and tunnel, divide that by actual laps completed on track, with maybe stoppages ;(

I know a broker who will arrange cover for nürburgring, spa, etc. but it's only 5 trackdays p.a. (of which 2 european). Extra days can be purchased. The excess isn't 10% but the usual car road policy excess.

If you're interested then email me for details.

I'll be asking this question again in December when mine is due, but as things are it looks like my 7 or so years with Mannings will come to an end. Only 6 Euro track days scheduled this year, but there were 12 last year. At £250 per day that is a lot of scope for some competition. I only do a couple of UK days a year over the last few, so that part isn't much of an incentive.
