996 Turbo starting issues
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
I don't wish to cover old ground and have already read some posts relating to the matter, however i just wanted to explain my specific circumstances before i take the car in and get hit with a hefty bill i'm sure.
I have had the car a few months and its been fine, however the other day i was running around and was so busy, i ended up needed to park the car up and take a train with little to no fuel (range left was just 10 miles).
When i went to start the car something was working wildly, forgive me ignorance but i don;t know if that noise was (starter motor, alternator, fuel pump etc) but it did remind me of a starter motor only on acid, but the engine refused to jump into life. Almost as though the starter was working but the next part of the chain wasn't. After a few attempts the car did start, i drove and filled up and it seemed like the problem was gone - until the next morning.
Again the car was clearly doing its best, but something wasn't signalling it to turn over - eventually it did and i was on my way.
Today the car REALLY struggled, and took a lot longer than normal (again doing the same thing). I am almost sure the next time i try it won't start, and it felt like trying was causing damage to something (again i don't know what but my ears were very clear - it wasn't happy).
The fact the car will eventually start, and the battery meter displays just over 12v i thought meant it wasn't battery related. When driving the car is fine so i'm guessing it's not the fuel pump.
Does this sound like a simple fix i could possibly do or does the car need to go in? It has no warning lights and seems ok other than this.
All help appreciated.
Cheers
Joel
