European Carrera GT's
Discussion
How many owners of CGT's on here that have sourced there car from Europe have bothered with the conversion to UK spec? From what I understand the 3 main things that Porsche will do to the car is change the front headlights, change the rear bumper so that the fog light is on the correct side and change the speedo to read in MPH not KPH. The cost of this is quite significant when compared to the overall running costs of the car. I appreciate the front headlights are probably necessary to pass a UK MOT but I can't see the fog light or speedo being an issue and wonder what other owners who have sourced their cars from mainland Europe have done?
I am not familiar with CGTs per se, but for other euro 911s, you only need to:
- turn the switch on front lights so that the beam is flat (you do not need to replace front lights). This is good for MOT
- ensure the required rear foglight works. On 997 this requires one new rear light cluster...though I believe it can be patched on non LED models or done in the DME for some models.
- if you have a part digital dash (I know 996 onwards have this), ensure the digital parts reads MPH...that is just a Onboard Computer config..you do not need to change the dash
So the only real cost is for one rear cluster.

Most 2004 cgt headlights are not adjustable,05 models on came with a flat beam.headlights 2 k each otherwise, manufactured in the uk.
Rear fog light is a hella unit, purchased for not much, and easy to change
As said from memory you can change to mph on the dash, dont think it has to reord mph for mot though,as km is also accepatble i think.
Lots of usa cars came back to eu
