Can someone advise me how the ecu controls the boost provided. When driving at low revs ie 6 th gear and 2000 rpm at wot I get 1.1 bar boost which I expect. When however I am driving normally but hard say at 3500 rpm in 2nd and go wot the boost is 0.7 bar over the rest of the rev range.

Should I be expecting 1.1 bar ie full boost at higher revs when driving the car hard?

For info I have the car in sports mode and the over boost up arrow comes on when wot

Look forwards to your comments.

Essentially the amount of boost available is relative to the load and speed of the engine. As you've discovered; when the engine has to 'dig deep' in a high gear you'll get maximum boost. If you apply WOT after constant throttle at 4k rpm in 3rd gear the boost will not hit its peak. Apply the brake lightly and then WOT at the same time and the boost will go higher (as the engine requires it to produce maximum torque).
