997.1 turbo tyre pressure monitoring sensors.
Discussion
Lovely day got my car out of hibernation for its first outing this year. Bummer two NS tyres not giving a pressure reading on the dash. Called into OPC Bristol they very kindly hooked up to their diagnostics revealing that all four sensors within the wheels the batteries are expired and I have 1 year left on my battery within the TPS monitoring unit. The fix I was informed would be over £600 +vat for the replacement of all four sensors. Question is firstly is it possible to switch this system off or disable via the diagnostics as I do not mind checking my pressures manually its no hardship to me. If not has anyone found a cheap fix or possibly replaced the batteries within the sensors. I am aware that they are sealed /encapsulated but it must be possible to locate the battery and dig it out and replace then re seal with epoxy. Anyone done this????
Thanks
Thanks

I scoured the web and the best deal I could find was from www.TPMS.com working out at $334 plus $62 UPS courier thats £252 then I will be clobbered for duty and vat and handling + fitting costs. I called my local Protyre here in bristol and they could supply and fit the generic I-Sensors for £60 +vat per wheel. The sensors are cloned to the same spec as the OE HUF/Beru so that the system recognises them and they have the same warranty and battery life they even use the same schrader valves. Im gonna give these a go next week.

I had to buy a new set of TPMS when I wanted to use my set of 997.1 Turbo winter tyres and rims on my new 997.2 Turbo. Somewhat annoying but they changed this part on the facelift. After searching the internet I tried my local OPC and they were the cheapest by a lot (around £250 for the 4). A visit to a friendly tyre fitter who removed, refitted and rebalanced each tyre for £10 and whilst the tyres were off I swapped the sensors over. Total cost under £300.
Always worth checking prices for parts with the OPC has the paerts are not always that expensive. It is the labour bit which hurts!

My story similar to others.... Took my C2S Cab out for a decent run, but the sensor in the rear near side wheel wouldn't pick up the pressure and this triggered the warning light on the dash..... Very annoying!
Found this thread very informative, but concerned now that the other 3 sensors could be on the way out.
Question now is, replace the sole faulty one at Protyre or go the whole way and replace all 4???

I have a set of 997.2 sensors (no valves) going spare for a reasonable offer
They don't last more than 5 years I think so if its say from 2010 car they're worth zilch. Not worth nickel and dining as they're so cheap via eBay anywayI like the idea of early warning of a deflation that the TPMS gives you. So when I got my car and found it wasn't working the first job was to replace all the sensor. It's worked fine and is peace of mind when you think you don't have a spare wheel to fall back on if it all goes t*ts up.
