Just reading the Feb issue of Total 911 on the ipad and there is a feature on two American GT3's, a 997.1 RS and a 997.2 RS

The pictures show that they both have comfort seats!

Was this an American thing or is there such a thing as a UK spec GT3 RS with comfort seats?

I thought the RS only came with bucket seats.

The last one to sell thru the OPC Network, was a non clubsport spec, no cage/buckets, it stuck around for quite a while!

I think you could spec the car like that, (beyond me as to why) as I have seen a couple advertised over the years. Certainly not my cup of tea and as I say, they take some moving on....

I never knew they were available in 'comfort' spec. I thought it was bucket seats only!

I have back problems so the buckets are a no-no for me, which led me to believe that a GT3 RS would always be a no-no for me.

Looks like there is light at the end of the GT3 tunnel for me now biggrin

I think the buckets are not OEM available in the US - something to do with airbags I believe.

Don't think club sport was an option in the states, I remember reading about people complaining because the plates weren't there to bolt the cage to.

UK 997 GT3 RS mk 1 was buckets only.

UK 997 GT3 RS mk 2 had non buckets as an option. Rarely see non bucket seat cars for sale. Assume very few ordered the cars without buckets/cage.

Tell you what pal, I don't know if you have tried the buckets in the RS but they are amazingly comfortable. I suffer to a certain degree with a iffy back, but these things are actually the most comfortable seat I have ever had in a Porsche. Even the Mrs commented how good they were on last years Euro trip, and that has to be the ultimate accolade wink

Are you thinking of the lightweight sports seats? These are much narrower than the standard buckets and no where near as comfy...

I find those buckets more comfortable than the adaptive sports seats in the turbo.

US Spec GT3s (RS and vanilla) were supplied with comfort seats exclusively , legal issues.

Nearly. They have never been able to have the fixed back buckets, however the folding buckets with thorax airbags were available on the 3.8 and 4 litre (the sports seats were the other option). US cars also do not have roll cages or plastic rear windows from the factory either (though many have been retrofitted).
