Hi guys, the silencer boxes on my car have just started to go slightly rusty along the lower front corner of the seem. Before they get too bad I would like to upgrade.

Do you think to go genuine (and no I haven't got pse) or what aftermarket variants are there that won't be too loud as I'm not one for frequenting max power events lol

if the corrosion isnt too bad, Carnewal might be able to fix the welding & also uprate the innards whilst you are at it. A friend has an 3.6 996 & had the same problem & got himself a pair of replacement Carnewal boxes & they sound great....just like an air-cooled 911 at certain speeds. There are other manufacturers including Dansk & they too have a good reputation.

Gert Carnewal's exhausts for the 996 are inexpensive and sound superb.
