So now in a Gen 2 Turbo S PDF, having come from a Gen 1 Turbo Tiptronic. The latter was very safe; you could use all the power pretty much all of the time. However, admittedly, on track it felt one dimensional and a bit boring.

The Gen 2 however is a completely different animal, it breaks traction fairly easily in 1st (gearing, no doubt), but is generally a lot more 'lively' everywhere - especially in the recent damp conditions!

I was just wondering if this was normal or if i should get things checked out, be it geometry or if the tyres are too old (it's particularly low mileage). On that note, they are EXACTLY the same tyres as was fitted to the Gen 1.

Any input appreciated!

Turbo S was made a bit more lively by the engineers at Porsche using PTV technology. The tech helps turn in and they've deliberately made the tail wag a bit more as earlier car was criticised for having too much grip hence as you point out its a bit boring

Very good...

Interesting. Would like to drive a Gen 2 Turbo to see how different the two are...

Out of curiosity I noticed this when being a passenger in one, it would wag the tail on power exits, but at the same time would straighten itself up whilst deploying all the power.

So it felt more lively but was no more dangerous than gen1 as whether you steered into it or not did not seem to make any difference, car would straighten itself either way and be off......

Yep artificial power oversteer! Gen 1 will do it too but you just need to try harder! biggrin

Your car is not broken, it is perfectly normal. The Gen2 Turbo is a fun car to drive and is very tail happy, I think its a great drive.

Bridgestones are either a total liability or add even more fun, depending on your needs smile

I have almost caused a couple of accidents when the car has failed to get out smoothly at busy roundabouts, instead deciding to spin all 4 wheels and spool its turbos, ahh well the joys of ownership!

One big rule I follow with the Turbo though - Don't lift off. Most of the time it causes more problems than it fixes.
