Hi

Was offer what I think is a good CH deal on the Cayenne Platinum Edition, £469 + VAT, 6 months down, over 48 months.

I think its good if you are self employed as you can offset a lot of the cost against tax.

Why on earth would you run a company car ? Financial suicide especially with a high CO2 performance car surely ?

In 99% of cases you are better off running the car as personal purchase and claiming back business mileage allowance.

Because being self employed and running your own PLC/LTD are 2 very different things when it comes to company cars.

It won't be such a good deal when you spec it with £10k worth of options, and you end up paying the thick end of £800 a month including VAT!

Pete
(isn't this in the wrong bit of the Porsche forum, btw?)

Yes sorry its in the wrong forum.

The spec of the platinum edition is quite good, the only thing I can see that it really needs is heated seats and bluetooth.

This would be the wrong place to admit I'm just about to order one with £10k worth of options then? :-s

The main expensive things are PASM, panoramic roof, 20" wheels, and full leather (admittedly the roof and leather are complete luxuries, and represent £3k of that!). I'm intending to keep it for a while though, so the man-maths works out for me. Porsche are certainly living in the dark ages with things like DAB, ambient lighting, bluetooth, memory seats etc being optional extras. It's scandalous how little the non-Platinum Edition car comes with as a base spec.

If you are going to spend that much why dont you wait until the 300bhp refresh and face lift come in. I think it will be later this year.

Based on the Panamera refresh, the base price of the Cayenne will probably go up by 5% or so. Add to that the fact that an identical spec of plain ol' Cayenne Diesel costs just over £3k more than the current special Platinum Edition, and that dealers are currently offering sensible discounts o the 2014 model. I'll basically pay somewhere between £7k and £10k less for a 2014 than a 2015 car, which seems like a saving worth making.

As a Ltd company you could pay it via the company but treat as a dividend and thus be able to get the business deal but without getting bummed by the tax/P11D/NI milarky.

Yes for sure but unless im mistaken its crap either way.

Self employed, 10% Capital Allowances per annum, further compromised by personal/business use split.

Basically, you are far far better off saving money on the initial purchase and minimising depreciation.

I dont get this ?

If a company buys a car as an asset then an employee has to use it. So ni has to be paid and there is tax on fuel and a huge personal BIK with a high co2 car such as a cayenne. There are no loopholes whether a company car is run through self employment or a ltd company. The only way ot can benefit is taking advantage of strong govt. incentives on certain highly green cars.
