Starts but won't run

Hope someone has some idea of what might be happening.
I got in to my 99 3.4 996 this morning after leaving her for about a week. Turned the key,she starts ok but won't run. I haven't had chance to try again yet, but in the meantime, any ideas?

It sounds like a fuel pump or immobiliser issue. Does it die after a couple of seconds or does it keep running for a bit longer?

A similar thing happened to my early 3.4 after it had been left for a while. It would run though, but not tickover, so I had to use the accelerator to keep the revs up myself. It was the idle control valve - not an expensive job.

thanks for the replies. I've tried again this evening and no change. Fires and stops. Am going to get the. Local dealer to take her away and have a look. Seems very sudden to me. She was running fine when she was put away last week. Not sure about the imobilizer theory though as she was not actually locked during this time. I'll report the results of the OPC findings in due course.
