I really like the new targa.

For me, this was brand new when I was an impressionable 15 year old and it is perhaps the definitive 911 of the 1980s.

Initial reaction to the 991 targa was yikes

....But the more I see it, the more I really like it!

As for best looking 911. For me it's the 993 Turbo

Think the new Targa looks wrong, only targa i like is the IB cars and i'm not 100% on those either.

Totally agree that new targa isn't pretty plus I'm sure that style targa roof has been seen before from an Independant maker. I seem to remember JZM had a 997 for sale with one on.
I know this has the convenience of folding away under the bodywork but the styling is the same

RUF did it on their Greenster electric powered one on show at Geneva 2 or. 3 years ago. Mr Ruf styled it on his rare very early soft-windowed targa, same colour green, retro seat colours/fabrics. I think it was just a showpiece though, but I guess if you wanted one they'd build it for you.

So many to choose from, but for me it has to be pre-89 with upright headlamps and fuchs!

Some form of 993 for me. It is has been a bit too big since then.

Molly, you have lost the plot - the 991 GT3 is many things (most of them brilliant), but it is not a good-looking car. It is hideous. It also fails the "Could you drive to any party and not look like a nobhead as you park?" test. It looks like something a 20-year-old chav would do to a 911.

Blimey, don't hold back .... Seriously, tell us how you really feel. I'm thinking, maybe your not to keen on the new GT3?

ORD, the OP orginally asked the question about ther current 991, so I stand by the GT3. Lets face it, they are all massive! The wheels especially are stunning.

However, the best looking 911 overall is a totally different question and the 991 doesn't get near!
