OK, the MOT spotted that my exhaust straps were on the way out, aside from welding the only other option is that the entire exhaust is removed and replaced to fit the new brackets. Which typically is a third of the cost of a Milltek system - which is the one my instinct is telling me to go for. So having got the quote for replacing the brackets and dropping the I might as well go the whole hog and fit a new sports exhaust, the missus replied - well you have always talked about getting one, its pointless to pay so much to get your old one refitted..... ehhhh I came up trumps with this one (well nearly as it will be me who is paying).

So - milltek with 200 cell. Do I need the remap? What else should I do at the same time as the exhaust is off in terms of preventative maintenance. I have a quote from AMD and am waiting from design911. Could another option be for a specialist to fit the exaust, therefore paying more attention to the other bits then get a remap separately if needed? In addition I had my clutch replaced last year but with a standard clutch will the extra horses (50/60) eat this clutch?

Thoughts please?

Hi Nobbles,
As I understand with a 200 cel you shouldn't need a remap.
I note that you've been in touch with AMD and they have quoted you. AMD at Thurrock did the Milltek exhaust on my turbo (tip) just over a year ago. I decided to go for 100 cel with a remap, as they were offering half price on the remap when fitting a Milltek exhaust. Have you asked them if they're still offering this? - sure they were when I looked at their website recently.
I've found the Milltek isn't a particularly loud exhaust, nowhere near as loud as the PSE I had on the C2 but a turbo is never going to sound as loud as a n/a car with PSE! Also it takes a few hundred miles for the exhaust to coke up so you notice a difference.
What was a very fast car before the exhaust and remap is now mental fast smile

Preventative maintenance wise replacing your exhaust bolting with S.S items would be good (Manifold to Turbo and Turbo to Exhaust).

Turbo heat shields.

Turbo oil lines and the NRV's on top of the Turbo's.

Have the Turbo's overhauled, new seals etc.

I had all this done about 2 years ago. My Turbo's were replaced rather than overhauled however. smile
