Hi, new to this forum. I am looking to buy a Gt3 RS. I have a budget of £90k. Any tips or advice ? The car is just for weekend fun. I have no real preference as to whether gen 1 or 2 and might even take a 996 if a nice one turns up. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Welcome!

There is a lovely Gen2 RS at GC Motors in Harrogate which I nearly bought just before Christmas - know the previous owner too who has really looked after it. I ended up with a similar car but a stealthier look, but it was a very close run thing between the two.

The GC car is quite ropey from what I hear.

I guess we have been told two quite different descriptions then! No matter. Am sure OP can find a good car out there.

With your budget I personally would be looking at 3.8 Gen 2's.

They have more torque than the 3.6 Gen 1 and are more stable at high speed if you intend to drive it on the Autobarns or on track.

Cheers guys. I've had a few normal 911's from 993, 996, 997 gen 1 and 2. I wondered if there was anything to avoid or would be a must have. I was looking at the grey gen 2 rs at gc motors, but having read other things about that dealer on this forum, I think I'll give them a miss.

There's one at OPC Solihull which is a lovely car but it's a bit over your budget and has no cage which seems to be an issue. Still, it's been there a while so maybe there's a deal to be done?

I wouldn't rule out the GT3RS at GC Motors; it's not the black GT3 which has a known history (apparently / allegedly) so could be a straight car. Get it checked out by a reputable expert (SCOM are reasonably close) and if it checks out OK you could bag a bargain. You buy the car, not the dealer at the end of the day.
