Was leaning on the 996 door yesterday whilst taking some stuff out of the car. Felt the door trim move and thought I'd snapped something.

But no, turns out my car has cavernous door bins with hinged lids - I had no idea these existed!

If it wasn't for a freak positioning of my elbow I'd have never known. Sadly no gold doubloons or mafia cash in them.

Are you all going to laugh at me for not noticing this before or have any other 996 owners had the same revelation? And what should I store in there (cue spare engine jokes)

This reminds me of a post on Boxa.net years ago when a new member complained that his 'two disc changer' in the glovebox of his 987 was broken. He was very disappointed to discover that it's just a storage space for two CDs. And even more disappointed at the piss-taking.

A friend of mine discovered his 997 Turbo S had an "auto lock" feature after putting his keys and jacket into the front boot. Lucky for him the porsche assist man was able to "get in" and recommended he had this feature re-configured by his local OPC. The event was made even worse because the feature was discovered half way through a track day!

Could be worse. I was in a 911 and went through the Olympic Park at the time of all the security checks. Security guards went to the back of the car, I went to the front. We want to look in the back. Sure. One of them remarked that there wasn't much storage space in a Porsche. I didn't have the heart to tell him about all the explosives I had packed up front.

At least you didn't post about not being able to find your engine. smile

I got talking to a guy who had driven his gt3 down from Scotland to Lemans.
His only complaint about the car was that it didn't have a cd player. He let my son who was fifteen at the time sit in his car at the camp site and after a while my son gets out and said you do have a cd it's under this cover on the dash. Sure enough there was the cd player.
The guy had had the car for three weeks. He took my son out for a blast next day in it as a way of saying thanks which made his day..
