Selling a 996 C2 in winter?
Discussion
Unfortunately reality is beginning to bite and the combo of baby on the way and a significantly larger mortgage on a house that needs work mean that the 996 is going to have to go.
I'm guessing this part of the year is a bad time to be selling, anyone have any experience of selling pre christmas and with the weather taking a turn for the worse? I don't want to get rinsed on what I sell her for especially seeing as I've literally just spent a small fortune on her.

You'll feel like you've been rinsed but that's the problem of buying car doing work on them and then selling them. All you can do is put an advert on at a fair price and see. Your better off trying to sell it now than when it's snowing in Feb.
I sold my 996 from home in the November but that was a few years ago.
Good luck

I personally dont think its makes that much difference. The key points when selling are;
1 - Take some great photos. Use a mate thats in to photography! Make it look fantastic! One photo can sell a car!
2 - Put a good and honest description together with all money spent recently.
3 - Price it competitively from the get go. Be realistic! Price it near to what you need (not want!) for it and then people might actually ring you. You can then stay close to the asking price. The key is to get them to actually come to you in the first place!
4 - When they make the ridiculous offer, decline with a smile and tell them how good they are at this. Massage their ego. Do not get annoyed!
Have fun!

l had my Hartech engined 996 with aerokit in the market this time last year & whilst l had some interest, l took it off market & sold it after Christmas having watched the PH Porsche forum threads. My car was a touch Marmite for some though had full history & masses of photos. I look back & think it was worth not selling it before Christmas as l got more £s & it also went to an enthusiast. Good luck
Cheers for the responses, I've been doing everything I can to keep it but the house is going to have to come first. Will have to see what the market makes of it and hope I can get a reasonable price.
Looks like I will be in the land of an estate car and a hot hotch for at least the next 12 months..

Good luck with the sale.
After having had no luck with selling mine before I relocated to Singapore this week, I decided to put it in storage for a few months to keep any issues off my mind.
Perhaps in the spring I'll advertise more aggressively, but let's see.
To be honest I'd priced mine as the lowest on here (despite it NOT being the worst car, considering the upgraded IMS and so on and good condition) but nothing happened.
Again, good luck.
